Borrowed From the Earth is a story about the powerful connection Blackfeet Indians have with horses and how
that life-giving connection is alive today. Throughout their respective histories, both Horse and Indigenous have been corralled.
Fences put horses in pens and Native Americans on reservations, but the centuries long attempts to subdue both was also
successful in strengthening the connection between horse and man. This short film explains the value of this connection by
taking viewers on a poetic journey from the origin story of the horse to the modern day Indian Relay Race. Set on the
Blackfeet Reservation in Browning Montana, Borrowed from the Earth is an essay on relationships.
